Health.com: Study suggests that cigarette taxes deter heavy drinking

Once again, studies suggest that higher cigarette 
taxes are an effective instrument for not only 
deterring heavy drinking, but also for reducing 
the daily quantities of tobacco taken in by someone 
who regularly smokes and drinks. It's working for 
Australia and New York City. 
It will work elsewhere as well.
