NY Times: In the New Calculus of Smoking, It's Health Gained vs Pleasure Lost

This article by Sabrina Tavernise
reports on the FDA's problem in
the new tobacco regulations with
the Cost/Benefit analysis that points
to the "happiness quotient" that
diminishes the benefits of quitting
because of the suffering smokers
go through when they quit. Big
Tobacco strangles reason once again.
While this blog has always been known
for its clean language, this so-called
"happiness quotient" is the most
massive crock of bullshit ever put
forth masquerading as logic.

In my book, I chronicled the
conditions and the discomfort
that occurs with the quitting process.
The immediate reason I stopped was
because I could no longer breathe.
That experience was far more
uncomfortable than the actual
act of quitting. Quitting felt great.
There is no discounting HEALTH.
Giving up smoking has NO downside.
Pleasure lost? Only thing lost is life.
Quit. Just do it.
